Here are some of the top changes that we&#8217;ve covered over the past few months:<\/p>\n<p>The first change we&#8217;ll highlight is the change to the Certified Food Manager&#8217;s title. The Certified Food Manager will now be known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/certified-food-protection-manager\/certified-food-managers-and-changes-in-their-title-and-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Certified Food Protection Manager<\/a>. This change was made in order to clarify the types of business require a CFPM.<\/p>\n<p>Your handwashing stations will now no longer be required to have a nail brush available. The new regulations also outline other <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/safe-food-training-mn\/servsafe-food-managers-and-proposed-changes-to-handwashing-stations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changes to handwashing stations<\/a> including the use or air dryers and required signage.<\/p>\n<p>Sanitation and having a documented plan for certain instances is now required. Going forward, you must have a documented plan for <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/certified-food-protection-manager\/new-certified-food-protection-manager-vomit-cleanup-regulations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vomit and diarrhea cleanup<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are new <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/certified-food-protection-manager\/proposed-changes-in-the-mn-food-code-will-effect-kitchen-equipment-requirements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">equipment standards in the updated food code<\/a> that make it easier for food safety managers to choose which equipment to purchase for their kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Temperature control is a big part of food safety, and the current code now restricts the use of the standard probe thermometer for certain foods in favor of a <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/mn-food-code\/new-mn-food-code-thermometer-rules\/\"> small-diameter probe.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of temperatures, you will now be required to monitor the <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/safe-food-training-mn\/minnesota-food-code-changes-warewashing-water-temperature\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">water temperature or your dishwashing machine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new code also addresses obtaining wild mushrooms from verified sources. Food safety managers must now source their mushrooms from <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/food-manager-certification-training\/the-minnesota-food-managers-and-sourcing-wild-mushrooms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">registered providers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The writers of the food code have taken the time to address certain unique situations. New sections have been added to code to include regulations for <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/certified-food-protection-manager\/food-safety-training-and-non-continuous-cooking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">non-continuous cooking<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/food-safety-certification-mn\/food-safety-training-reusable-takeout-containers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reusable takeout containers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.safefoodtraining.com\/2026\/safe-food-training-mn\/new-mn-food-code-guide-to-serving-highly-susceptible-groups\/\">food preparation for susceptible groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Go ahead and bookmark this page for quick reference whenever you need it.
